The first few months of 2020 have been a crazy time.
We’re (supposed to be) spending most of our time indoors. When we must venture out, it’s impossible to do so without constantly wondering whether or not every person we encounter could be carrying an ultra-infectious virus. Or maybe that’s just me. Either way, what we all need is a tool that will make all this indoor time not only more productive, but also a little more sane.
What we all really need is a whiteboard.
We loved ours so much, we made a movie about it. After all, it’s the best whiteboard.
No, really, hear me out: we’re all spending a lot more inactive time indoors, and a lot less active time in the real world outside. According to the department of health and human services, in more ordinary times:
“Less than 5% of adults [in the U.S.] participate in 30 minutes of physical activity each day; only one in three adults receive the recommended amount of physical activity each week.”
And that’s when we’re not all self-quarantining. Now that parks, gyms, and most of the outside world are closed until further notice, it’s even more important to stay active.
Additionally, some studies suggest that our mental health can greatly benefit from (and practically depends on) the amount of physical activity we get. Even movement as simple as washing a dish, turning a page, or writing on a whiteboard can stimulate our brains in ways that typing on a keyboard or scrolling through Instagram never could. There’s something about those activities which produce tangible, physical results that helps clear the mind and remind us that we can still have an effect on the world.
So if you need a break from your zoom meetings, email, and social media, ditch your device for ten minutes. Grab that dry-erase marker and unleash your next big idea on a whiteboard.
